Let it snow

America seems to enjoy stirring things up. One of her worst habits is mocking. Sometimes we say we're "just kidding" but usually that means "I mean what I'm saying but I want you to take it lying down, and put a smirky smile on while you're at it."   Americans have had their fun with Mike Huckabee, as well as with the virtues and character traits and moral standards he so very well illustrates.  Some Americans don't get it at all that virtues are desirable in Americans, not rudeness, lack of sustainable goals or the lonely emptiness of cynicism.  Now I understand a few things as a woman in her fifties who's seen a lot of both bad and good in my personal life. And I can say with absolutely certainty that God is not at all pleased, in fact, is very displeased with the election results of March 4.  I realize that by going public with such a statement I open myself up to the world for ridicule to pile in like the ever growing snowdrifts outside. But Tuesday March 4 began a weather statement from God, beginning with an enormous wind and ice storm covering several states, culminating in such severe damage that power was interrupted in much of NE Ohio due to sleet penetrating the transformers and causing them to literally explode and light up the night in blue. I understand the last of the homes in one of our neighboring counties finally had their electricity restored today, the fifth day. Meanwhile yesterday, some remaining thin ice melted off in the sun while the large chunks remained, and by afternoon temperature dropped, causing slick and treacherous road conditions all over again. By late afternoon the dreaded and predicted mother of all snowstorms began its journey through this same region. I'm told our little town has received only 11 inches of snowfall, but the wind has forced drifting and piled it up against home and garage doors everywhere.  At our home a yardstick would barely poke out of the top of the drifts on both our decks and the front porch. Do I really believe God speaks to us in the weather? Yes, I do. And He brings us the scary stuff when He's displeased. God has put a Godly man in our midst to bring positive and enlightened change to this very troubled nation, and even some of those among us who call ourselves sensible conservatives chickened out and voted for the "presumptive nominee" anyway. Here's the scoop: people chose not to vote for Mike Huckabee simply because they were afraid of how he might influence thinking in America.  People refused to learn more about Mike Huckabee simply because they found out early on from the liberal media that he was an ordained minister.  It's entirely too bad that they missed out on the profoundly unique opportunity to learn about his vision for America and his plans to correct our many difficult problems and crises.  I don't believe that God is finished with this snowstorm outside, the same way I don't believe He's going to let America forget about the extraordinary man He sent us, Mike Huckabee, who is someone every American would grow to love if they took the time to take a longer look.  Here is some final food for thought: The Lord is Our Light and Our Salvation (Psalm 27), the Lord will not be mocked forever, and the Lord was not pleased with the way the majority voted on Tuesday.  So if we slow down long enough to stop and look at the skies, and hold our finger outside to gauge the strength and direction of the wind, well then, we might actually learn something.
